Camus published The Stranger in 1942, when he was only 28. He recorded the story for French radio in April 1954, 3 years before he won the Nobel prize.
This recording is remarkable for its clarity. There is none of the static that one normally hears on historic recordings. The only element that hints that this was recorded so long ago is the music in the intro (see the third link.)
